2021 National Church Census

Thank you for taking part in this National Church Census alongside thousands of other local churches across Australia.

One or more nominated leaders should complete one census for each local church.

'Local church' refers to the whole gathering of attenders who meet at a single location or site. A local church may consist of more than one church service or congregation.

Are you a ‘multi-site’ church?
‘Multi-site’ churches meet at more than one location or site.  Examples include a multi-centre parish, a cluster of congregations, a multi-campus church or mass centres in a parish.

Instructions for Protestant multi-site churches: If your church meets at more than one location or site, please complete one Church Census per church location.

Instructions for Catholic parishes: Please complete only ONE Church Census for the whole parish.

Ready to start?

Your local church will give you a unique 'Church Code' for this survey.

To begin, type your Church Code into the box below.

Part of the full National Church Life Survey (2021 NCLS)?

If your church is taking part in the full NCLS, which also includes surveying your church attenders, you do not need to complete these. Go to surveys.ncls.org.au for your surveys.

For more information see www.ncls.org.au and www.2021ncls.org.au.

By completing the survey form you consent to take part in the research. Participants are unable  to withdraw data after it has been submitted. Results will be supplied to churches, church and denominational leaders, and used for research into views of church attenders and matters of church life.  Charles Sturt University’s Human Research Ethics Committee has approved this project.
